Hello I’m Twonsoon! Excited to be here.
Hello world! My name is Curry and I am so amazed by this crypto world, excited to discover more knowledge and technical debt behind it.
Hi I am LK and I’m excited to learn about xDai chain and 1Hive community.
Nice idea for an intro thread.
I’m TheNewAutonomy in most places (Twitter, GitHub, Discord etc).
I’m a software developer by trade, 20+ years in the industry designing and building some big systems in industries such as digital movie distribution for film studios, banks, government, defence firms etc. It still makes me smile that of all these sensitive industries, the most paranoid was the film studios. Banks and government could learn a lot from them.
I first came into contact with blockchain during a project that started in 2013 with the European Commission, looking at ways to distribute data and services within smart cities where there’s no central authority. From those early investigations I loved the potential, jumped into a few early blockchain projects, wrote a couple of papers, pitched some ideas at places such as the Bank of England and then eventually in 2017 formed a company in London to design and develop a new protocol. We were funded by an oil and gas company as a pure R&D business so it ended up becoming more of an industrial protocol that we open sourced and shared with several other core teams. We were reasonably well funded and had a team of around 25 people working full time in London so it was a fun and productive few years.
Then towards the end of last year I moved to a new venture focused on DeFi which is more of a passion for me. Those early papers in 2017 were focused on the potential for decentralised finance but it was tough to get buy in at the time from the big establishments such as the Bank of England. If interested, at the time I wrote the document proofs to Bitcoin.

The biggest issue we face in DeFi however is the cost and transaction times. Practically speaking, Ethereum isn’t even in the running for a practical financial services network. Don’t get me wrong, I love the technology, the EVM, the potential but when I’m hitting the kinds of fees we’re hitting today it’s only an option for large movements of value. That makes it suitable for the 1% and that was never what I believed to be the future for the technology. Back when I was writing those papers I was talking about banking the unbanked and empowering the masses but frankly the unbanked can’t afford tens of dollars to pay fees for essentials.
So what does the network do?
Bitcoin hit the same wall years ago. It was touted as a new form of money, then it became popular and the fees rocketed and then it became unsuitable for what it was built for so it pivoted smartly into a long term store of value. I think that was smart, it identified what it was good at and pivoted.
What about Ethereum? It can’t pivot into a long term store of value I believe since we already have one, a good one with Bitcoin and I’m not sure the world needs a second long term store of value.
I can’t see what it can pivot into so the underlying issues have to be addressed. That’s what brought me to xDai because that’s what xDai does. Straight forward, it solves the underlying issues and makes DeFi practical for the masses. That’s also why I don’t hold ETH because frankly Ethereum is now playing catch up to xDai. Ethereum 2, if it works, will make Ethereum as good as xDai. That isn’t exciting to me, their future is playing catch up to the amazing work happening on xDai.
Anyway, that’s my long intro and why I’m a fan of xDai and the 1hive community. The 1hive community is a true DAO, doing real projects that are practical with a smart and active community.
(Sorry for anyone who I offended with my view of Ethereum main network, I really hope it does do great, I’m just more into what xDai is doing today and if Ethereum smashes it with Ethereum 2 then I’m sure everyone still wins).
Yes just check out buzz channels. There is an agave and a 1hive discord.
Hi everyone. I was introduced to 1Hive via BrightID (which was introduced from GitCoin).
Geographically, I am based in India.
I am a Software Engineer specializing in React/Node/TypeScript/GraphQL space for the last 4 years, and my dream is to become a Full Stack Smart Contract developer. Completed High school in 2016 and everything else I am working on is just self-taught haha. My goal within the next 5 years is to become a Blockchain architect (Solidity/Smart Contract Senior Engineer), and I am trying to move towards it. I would love to contribute anything towards Front end, API integration, Junior Solidity development. Excited to be a part of the team. Thanks
Welcome aboard!
Hey there. TheRidDlerX here.
Was introduced to the community at the start of March after watching a quick video about a new project that’s coming. Piqued my interest and been trying to use the platform more ever since. Been in crypto since about 2016. Hoping to learn and help grow things here
Howdy, I’m Paul Im from the US, I was sick and tired of the ethereum fees so I looked for a solution and found XDAI on Chico Crypto channel on you tube, It was a little difficult at first but now I love XDAI and try to get others to use it.It seems to have the most bridges aslo. The community seems really nice to. I love the Alvin and Scwetpants. Keep up the great work team.
Hi there. I am doing this intro because I found out about 1Hive through BrightID and reddit and am doing the completion tasks to earn the 1xDai reward.
I am just generally working on getting a feel for the various crypto projects out there and seeing how different stuff works together.
Thanks!
Hello everyobody, this is fiyu.
I am here to learn and immerse myself to the upcoming decentralized world. I dropped out from university and picked the entrepreneurship road. I am trying to build a company/system/organization(preferably DAO) that is coefficient with blockchains and my vision.
I am really excited about the 1hive because this place is almost perfectly aligns with what I had in my mind at a ground level to bring up a community. Thanks for saving me the time and effort for creating this wonderful DAO.
Let’s see what we can do, collectively!
Hey guys. My name is Caleb and was just introduced to HoneySwap earlier today. I was introduced to the xDai network months ago, but never really saw a use for it. Now I am extremely interested in its uses.
I am from SE USA. I am a 30 yo crypto enthusiast who has been involved in the space for several years. I have worked as community support/ambassador for The Graph, Algorand, Celo, and Secret Network. I am hoping to find a niche here with HoneySwap where I can help benefit the project, and by default the entire space.
Hi,
I found this forum due to problems with the faucet via detours via the telegram group, the discord channel and then the Welcome Bounty. I am totally new to 1hive and the xDai network. My name is Jens and I am from Europe.
I was introduced to the xDai network 3 days ago by a telegram chat and found it quite interesting. So I’ve been surfing around a bit here and there and trying out new things.
My profession is research, but the kind of research you get paid for, when experimenting with real world stuff.
I am really stunned by all I’ve seen so far of the hive and curios where this is heading.
Hey guys.
My name is Fabian and I am from Germany.
Currently I’m doing my master degree in IT and work as an IT consultant.
I found out about 1Hive in the BrightID App and just started some days ago with it.
And I hope to learn a lot about this project here

Hello my
Name is Sergio Lagos, I have known about this interesting project of HONEY and the XDAY network for several months, through the
Need to look for new options in networks to interact.
I liked the concept of decentralization in many areas and new reforms in the network through 1hive and its new governance, I liked the XDAY network for its low and stable prices in the network commissions and I firmly believe that it will be the best way to make a difference in the network.
network commissions and I firmly believe that it will be the future in this industry. I am from Costa Rica and work in television and film production and very interesting to be part of this community .
Hello, my name is Guiselle Jimenez. I met 1Hive through a friend who recommended me honeySwap and the XDai network. I am from Costa Rica, I work in my own business ( TECHNOLOGY ), I would like to contribute to this community with my knowledge. Very happy to belong to the 1Hive community
Hi, my name is Joe, I found Honeyswap by interacting with a DAO that necessitated XDAI - the faucet sponsor was HoneySwap… so had a look…here I am.
I’m based in Nottingham, UK.

Hello you can call me Elartistazo,
I am from Spain and I am finishing my last year at high school, so tough and that indeed.
I started in crypto for the first time like 1 year ago, just some faucets and those things, nothing big.
Then I went around looking for ways to make free money XD, and I found discord servers that tipped free crypto.
Now I advocate myself to Trips Community and 1hive community. I like trading with different tokens on Honeyswap.
Other hobbies could be Valorant, Apex Legends, and reading, lots of reading XD, ejem bookworm.
Nothing more to add I guess
Thanks to everybody that reads this.
