New pollen proposal for period starting Oct 23

We know you are not a sybil @metaverde!
But is clear to see the gaming going on, let’s just check the number of votes vs the number of profiles with a profile picture:

250HNY: 8 profile pictures out of 36 voters (22%)
50HNY: 24 profile pictures out of 31 voters (77%)
25HNY: 17 profile pictures out of 19 voters (89%)
35HNY: 16 profile pictures out of 19 voters (84%)

Of course, there are legitimate voters that don’t want or haven’t uploaded a profile pic and there are fake accounts that do, but the overall difference is very clear.

You guys, I feel like a bad bee for my votes lmao

Maybe my math is way off, but the reason I voted for 250 HNY is because of the large increase in users coming to the faucet. 250 HNY per week = 71 HNY per 48 hrs / 3000 participants we have now is 0,024 HNY per user, which is about $24 per drip.

As the number of participants in the faucet increases that 0,024 turns to 0,012, then 0,006, etc. Yes, it is on the high side for now, I admit, but I see it as a tool to both grow the community and increase awareness of 1hive.

I voted for 6 weeks, because with a 2 week period we could still be waiting for the next vote to pass once that period is over. 4 weeks would have been optimal for me.

Hey man, no worries if you disagreed with the consensus. Also the 50 HNY only won a plurality vote, so there was a good amount of disagreement here still.

The issue was around fake accounts. It would be different if we had seen broad community support for the 250 HNY / week option.

Although tbh, I probably shouldn’t have added this option to the vote in the first place. I was being kind of tongue in cheek cos people on discord were joking about 500 HNY / week. 250 HNY / week would be over 1000 HNY / month which represents most of our inflation budget, and so doesn’t leave much room for other proposals like the farms or any future projects that require funding.

Ooh, I was not aware of how it would influence the budget, great point.

As for fake accounts, Bright ID linked to Discourse should do the trick, right? I’m sure there’s people out there with multiple Bright ID verified accounts, but for now it’s the best we can do.

brightID with discourse would probably do the trick ya, but I’m not aware of any integration right now.
I think there’s also a way to only allow certain trust level people to vote in discourse polls. Requiring at least trust level 1 would make it a little more difficult to spam new accounts like this, but not as robust as brightID.

You mean the trust levels you get from Discourse participation, right? That could be one layer, I agree.

On top of that, if we could link accounts here to ETH addresses (pref. anonymously) and set a low minimum amount for voting, ie 0,05 HNY at current market price.

Along with Bright ID, the three of these layers combined should help a lot, and are for the most part already available for our active 1hivers :honeybee:

EDIT: having the various trust levels act as multipliers for vote weight could be done too, but I believe that would be manipulated and ruin the forum over time

Maybe I’m misunderstanding here but are you talking about funding the faucet? This thread was about funding pollen, a contributor reward system using sourcecred.

Oh my goodness the misery of trying to track multiple Bright ID and faucet connected addresses. Easier to mint your own coin.
