To Faucet or Not To Faucet?

Yes sirrrrr. That’s how it is. That 0.0003 HNY would be God’s given blessing in a few years.

My contribution on the topic .
The faucet is actually a brilliant concept. Would rather want it to keep running. It might actually advance in the nearest future. It’s a good idea to check the water supply before you consider replacing a faucet that isn’t running, and the best place to start is under the sink. Both shutoff valves should be on all the way. If they are – and the faucet still isn’t working – turn them off, disconnect the supply hoses from the faucet and point them into a bucket. If you get a strong flow when you turn on the valves, then the fault is in the faucet. If there’s no flow, there could be a problem in the pipes or at the water source.
And Restore the Faucet on Arbitrum is not a bad idea I love that

Getting such amount of HNY from the faucet isn’t bad at all, 'cause in the nearest future, that amount of HNY would worth more than you can imagine. So I suggest we keep it running.

I really like option 4 it would help a lot to get people involved. but we must also take into account the gas to arbitrum. it’s very expensive. an operation 10 $ you take away in gas

Initially I was against keeping the faucet or revamping it but I’ve come into contact with a ton of people that got intro’ed to 1Hive by it. We could reach out to Rabbit Hole to develop a quest system for us or maybe build something in house. I will say rabbit hole is a minimum $125k investment.

The faucet was why I began my participation… well where, not why. I had decided to participate after a long read over the wiki at 1hive.org and then I found a good way to remain active was participating in the faucet registration and claiming periods. This was even before I was aware of pollen! (At one point I offered to ā€œpay backā€ whoever was mistakenly sending me Honey not knowing it was part of the participation rewards for community activity! LOL)

@Stonky Thank you so much for taking the time to write this up! :honeybee:

I think it is time to bring some life back to this post. I know that the faucet is what brought me to 1Hive and now I have been here for over a year. I really like option #2 and option #4. I do however question it being done on Arbitrum. As we have all experienced, the fees there are not as low as we had hoped and I think the migration could be some time from now. This is another topic and I do not want to take away from getting the faucet back up and running. I think we should really consider moving forward with this on xDai and worry about Arbitrum when the time comes.

I am ready for next steps. Do we need to have a discussion on this first, to see what the logistics are? Or just continue the conversation here? I think getting this back up and running with option #2 or Option #4 (on xDai) would be huge for 1Hive and would bring in more bees and keep them around because we all know that we ā€œCame for the Honey, but stayed for the beesā€.

lets boost the faucet in xdai! and forget about arbitrum!

I agree that this needs some new attention. Option #4 is great because it helps encourage engagement in the community. I would even suggest making engagement a requirement for a claim (rabbithole- think I’ve seen others mention doing this too). And this should definitely be done on xDai. 1hive is dominant on xDai and this is home.

I couldn’t agree more. I really like option #4 and think it will bring in new members and engrain them into the 1Hive community. Thanks for giving your feedback, it is really appreciated!

I am fine with everything really. Still think Arbitrum offers us an incredible audience (potentially) but I’m pretty sure that we would have a hard time coping with 5 10 $ fees.

xdai is great, but this merger needs to be followed closely as Honeyswap is not in the best interests of Gnosis, but they may potentially bring A LOT of liquidity, incentives, investors, projects, DAOs and so on. So this may be exactly what we were looking for by expanding on arbitrum.

Now…i’m going off-topic, but the move on Arbitrum was for a matter of security…and I am not sure that Gnosis Chain will be that much decentralized. not sure if security wise we are in a different position should the merge occur, but worth to keep an eye on this.

To your point I’m also wondering how neutral will the gnosis dao be to the whole chain but… CowSwap is just an aggregator, they have 0 liquidity on that protocol so maybe we shouldn’t be that worried for Honeyswap (though there’s nothing stopping them from building liquidity on cowswap).

As far as security, remember the Stake Beacon Chain (now Gnosis Beacon Chain) I don’t think it’ll be less decentralized.

IMO this is just not right timing for the faucet, first of all for the reason stated above about the chain and second because we still have to solve some issues before looking into growing our community.
