Hi, I am just throwing this out here and am not sure it will align with what 1hive has in it’s future but thought I would ask.
I have run a gold buying and pawn business for the last 10 years. I am a niche business that only deals with fine jewelry, gold, silver and diamonds. I have collected a large variety of silver morgans, gold and silver bullion and diamonds. I have services that I perform myself, in-store, that include jewelry repair, stone replacement and setting, sizing, restoration of antique pieces and making new jewelry.
Avenues of revenue are:
- gold buying (on average 30% gross profit in 15 days)
- Loans for collateral (this brings in 30% per month on principle loaned until redeemed)
- Jewelry repair (about 80 to 100 per hour at my bench on average) on a busy week I’ll get about 20 hours on repairs.
- Retail (my biggest sellers are diamond wedding sets and gold chains are hot right now)
Every loan is collateralized by an amount in gold and diamonds that are worth at least 30% more than what I am loaning out. Same for the gold buying, I buy at about a 30% less than scrap value. There are no bad loans or gold buys every transaction produces profit.
My profits are not dependent on making a sale, I can simply scrap the items and receive at least a 30% profit. Retailing an item, on average, will produce at least a 200% profit and up to 500% depending on the item and price I paid for it.
Is there a way to tokenize the interest bearing contracts I create everyday? Or to tokenize the real jewelry that I own now? This concept of bringing the digital world to something tangible is growing quickly, brings true ownership to the holder and interests me deeply. I see things like clothing, shoes, watches ect getting tokenized and has sparked a curiosity that will NOT leave my mind.
I have been thinking about how my skill sets could benefit this community best. I would be open to hearing how my current business could be used as an experiment to try out something like this, if it is even possible, and how it could benefit the 1hive comminity and our DAO.
This may be way “outside of the box” thinking. This is the best place I know to ask people that are in the know and, imo, trustworthy. My intensions are not driven primarily by monetary gain but an attempt to stay ahead of the “curve” and blaze new trails in this digital space keeping my business on the leading edge of tech.
