Dispute #14: 1Hive LLC Streaming Proposals

Recently my streaming proposal for 1Hive LLC was challenged by @mrtdlgc with the rationale that there has been no activity or monthly report since August 2023…

Unfortunately there is no way to add a comment directly in Celeste in order to defend my proposal so I will do so here instead:

There is no requirement to submit monthly reports in order to maintain a streaming proposal, it has become a common practice among contributors which is fine, but my most recent update to my proposal in late February is still just as relevant a description of my ongoing contributions as it is today.

I continue to be an active participant in 1Hive governance and discussion as well as a member of the community multi-sig.

I continue to maintain the 1hive.org domain and the sites hosted there and under its sub-domains.

I continue to be available when people ping me or dm me for assistance.

You can find the dispute here: Celeste Dashboard

You can find the original proposal, including the February update here: Gardens

For context, I do believe Luke proposes some legit counterarguments here.

His streaming proposal was challenged by me based on some conversation around streaming proposals should post regular (ideally monthly) updates on the forum by the people receiving streams.

Ideally, what we should have done to set this premise would be to post a suggestion proposal on Gardens v1 and decide based on the conviction that suggestion proposal would receive.

However, due to the stagnant position of 1Hive participants and HNY holders, I basically thought bringing something to Celeste instead of trying to beat voter apathy would echo and bring more attention to the discussion.

Another rationale that I had was to also check if our protocols (mainly Gardens v1 and Celeste) work as intended - a.k.a. dogfeeding ourselves.

Hoping that this discussion around this Celeste dispute will bring more activity around how we should treat streaming proposals (set a precedent for the anticipated Gardens v2 which is just around the corner to be launched).

PS: I know I was acting like Gensler to set a precedent with regulation by execution rather than following the ideal route of the suggestion proposal  I’m not trying to crack down on streaming proposals, it’s merely an attempt to bring some more attention to the state of things at 1Hive

Looks like I was drafted as a juror for Round 1 in Celeste - I’ll be voting to keep this proposal up.

A broken part of our setup right now is that we’re using Streaming Proposals both to fund contributors and to elect the signers of the Council Safe. There’s plenty of long-time contributors paying attention to 1Hive who aren’t actively working on anything… and who are ideal multi-sig signers.

Monthly summaries were meant so that people getting token streams as reward for work they’re doing were keeping the community updated on that work.

These seem like they should be 2 separate CV instances (Gardens v2 will let us separate these nicely).

Another improvement we can make in Gardens v2 will be to have a Funding Pool of treasury tokens (not HNY) to directly compensate expenses some of the 1Hive contributors are covering. Based on our current expenses this could be a pretty small pool… maybe just $1-2k. Luke mentioned he’s paying to host 1hive.org and the Discourse forum, I’m also covering honeyswap.org and Vercel - and these are just a few of the expenses people are covering out of pocket. Right now our only compensation for those is these HNY streams.

@mrtdlgc great points - very happy you disputed this even if I’m voting against you!
