Port of Oasis Trade to Xdai?

Hello,

I am a new user of this forum and I have also joined the discord with this same nickname: TheRFNoob.

I am also known as ‘IamMeeoh’ in the MakerDAO community.
I have recently posted a proposal on the MakerDAO forum:

The proposal is to organise a working group to port Oasis Trade (https://oasis.app/) to xDai.
I am wondering is 1Hive might have resources to help/sustain/do something about this as well?

Thank you for any info.

Anyway, happy to have joined this forum. :sunglasses:

I think porting Oasis to xDai currently requires a full copy of the Maker deployment (Dai and more) which is not feasible/desirable

Not sure about that, I don’t think oasis is tightly integrated into maker but could be wrong. I’m not sure what the rationale would be for moving this over to xDai now, I know the gnosis dex is being brought over soon, and someone is working on balancer as well. But I guess the question is, why oasis? What does it bring to the xdai ecosystem and how does it benefit 1hive/honey to work on moving it over?

@lkngtn it’s a battle-tested DEX allowing limit orders.

Sure, there are other projects that ‘are being built’, but Oasis Trade is already working and has been working well for years now (it used to be the primary place where to get MKR before the advent of Uniswap).

What does it bring to the xdai ecosystem?

Currently, HoneySwap provides all the functionalities of a LP exchange, Oasis would add to the xDai ecosystem a ‘limit order’ Dex.

how does it benefit 1hive/honey ?

I believe currently Oasis Dex does not apply any fees on transactions, but that could be done, of course, and that would give revenues to 1Hive. Again, the point is: “do people want/need a limit-order Dex on xDAI?”

Finally, let me note that currently OasisDex is basically dead on mainnet (there is a 5% price gap on the ETH/DAI pair for example). due to the cost of transaction fees. It could shine with xDai negligible fees.
