πŸ”— Run your own local xDai node (Updated for London hardfork)

OpenEthereum 3.3.0 rc.14 is out, with a few adjustments for the upcoming London hardfork. Guide updated accordingly.

(I only recommend release candidate versions since xDaichain themselves recommended that too, btw)

Adjusted links for 3.0.0 rc.15.

As per https://twitter.com/xdaichain/status/1458071131764707330 3.3.0-rc.15 is the recommended version for the upcoming London hardfork. Only 2 days left :rotating_light:

Hey @tacotexmex do I need to run the node on a vm? Will running a node open me up to hacks.

No need for a VM imo. You may run a node without opening a single port to your LAN. What platform are you using?

Ubuntu 20.04 is what I’m running on.
There was a post above about it is why I was concerned. Cool cool.
Thank you.

Which post? I think I’ve addressed most concerns.

This is sound advice. I should add a recommendation to use VPN for cloaking home IPs. Thanks!

Hi @tacotexmex I’m interested in run a node but I have a question is there some reward running a node or smtg? Hope you doing well

Hey :burrito:, hope you’re good!

There’s no monetary reward in running a non-validator node.

The benefits are
:avocado: uninterrupted access to your own RPC,
:hot_pepper: directly submit transactions to validator nodes
:corn: usage for various types of development.

Hope that answers your question. :beers:

1.How to specify the file storage location ?All documents are now in the/home/rosszhang/local/openethereum folder (I am using Ubuntu), the path is in the Ubuntu system disk;
2.Are there guidelines for setting up validation nodes?

I think we’re waiting for the β€œMerge”
