Quests funding proposal

Quests swarm funding proposal - final UX touch and further maintenance

Proposal Information

Since HNY has significantly depreciated since the last funding, the quests swarm is requesting more funds to pursue the finalization of the MVP and further development of the Dapp. In the past month, we have completely switched the design direction and got a new logo, thanks to the designer @Ben_O (Chimdalu). We have also made several bug fixes and UI touchups.
Here’s a look at the logo:

You can always take a look at the current the current state of the application here

As we mentioned in the previous proposal, after the completion of the MVP, we will use the remaining funds to add more functionalities as well as maintaining the upcoming releases.

Quests app documentation is available here .

There is also a technical doc about the MVP’s final scope here

Proposal Rationale

The app aims to help different stakeholders to interact easily and interactively through a quest and have a funding process to reward the work done. It kept the same vision since the initial proposal :

Expected duration or delivery date (if applicable):
The MVP aims to be finished within 2 months.
Afterwards, quests swarm will be working on new functionalities and maintenance with the remaining funds.

Funding Information (For Funding Proposals)

Amount of HNY requested:
115 ~ $20k at around $178/HNY
xDai address where funds shall be transferred:

More detailed description of how funds will be handled and used:

Rates for contributors will be $40/hour. The above HNY should be enough for MVP and a significant part will be used for post MVP development. Payments will be made in HNY at the $ value at the time of the hours completed, once every 2 weeks. If the HNY price depreciates significantly or development takes longer than anticipated more funds may be requested. The above estimate has taken into account some unpaid hours, the final milestone of the MVP as well as the post-development including maintenance. It includes any design and development jobs.

It is great to see this initiative taking steps to the MVP, we really need more examples of applications making an intense use of Celeste, such as Quests.

I don’t know if it’s late for changes in the logo, an I am fine if the team behind Quests is already sold on the new one. If you are still open to suggestions, I’d like to point the 1Hive Brand Guidelines to try to give to it a style more related with nature and the rest of the projects 1hive is working on.

I will be glad to support this proposal, thanks for putting it up together, guys.

Thanks a lot for the support . In my opinion it is definitely not too late for changing the logo as he is not included in the app yet. We will probably need a meeting to brainstorm in the nature element it could reflect and if there is no suitable elements we might stick to the current iteration of the logo. If you already have some idea, don’t hesitate … :stuck_out_tongue:

The best metaphor for a quest I can imagine is a dragon .

Joseph Campbell, the proposer of the hero’s journey monomyth, once described dragonslayer myths as a psychological metaphors:

"But as Siegfried [Sigurd] learned, he must then taste the dragon blood, in order to take to himself something of that dragon power. When Siegfried has killed the dragon and tasted the blood, he hears the song of nature. he has transcended his humanity and re-associated himself with the powers of nature, which are powers of our life, and from which our minds remove us.

…Psychologically, the dragon is one’s own binding of oneself to one’s own ego."

One of the most popular dragon legends is Saint George and the Dragon, a quest to save a village. Defeating Smaug is also the quest a group of a mage, some elfs and a hobbit undertake in The Hobbit novel and films. I think it works pretty well to describe the ultimate quest an individual or a collective will face.

Something else I’ve found related to quests and mythology / nature are the 12 labours of Hercules, but I think slaying a dragon is way more epic and compelling than slaying an hydra, which feels like a never ending work.

We have decided to address this change for after MVP. But we will consider your suggestions and try to make it fit with the actual design.
